Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle breaks records
The film Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba – The Movie: Infinity Castle – Part 1: Akaza Returns is dominating cinemas worldwide. Released in Japan in July, it has been playing internationally since mid-September. With a box office gross of over $555 million, it is now the highest-grossing anime film of all time, surpassing Mugen Train . It broke records, especially in the USA: on its opening day alone, it grossed over $70 million – more than any other anime film before it.
Chainsaw Man – The Movie: Reze Arc premieres
Another highlight in September was the theatrical release of Chainsaw Man – The Movie: Reze Arc . The film premiered in Japan on September 19, 2025, followed by an international release in select countries on September 24 via Crunchyroll and Sony Pictures. The film adapts the popular "Reze Arc" and expands upon the story of the first anime season.
“Dusk Beyond the End of the World” opens September 26th
Studio PA Works presented Dusk Beyond the End of the World, a completely new original project. The series tells the story of a man who awakens after 200 years in cryogenic sleep and must navigate an alien future with androids and altered societies. It premiered on September 26th and is airing on Hidive in North America.
Dandadan Season 3 officially confirmed
The success of Dandadan continues: Netflix confirmed in September that a third season is in production. While there's no exact release date yet, the quick announcement suggests a release is imminent.
Masaaki Yuasa returns
Anime director Masaaki Yuasa (known for Devilman Crybaby ) has announced his new project , Daisy's Life . This international co-production between Japan and France is set to be a poetic coming-of-age drama. Initial concept art and a teaser website were released in September.

YouTuber Gigguk surprised the anime community with his first self-produced short film , Bâan . After a small theatrical release in August, the film was released for free on YouTube on September 20th. In approximately 19 minutes, it tells a moving story about home, growing up, and identity.

Crunchyroll released its fall season lineup in September. Highlights include My Hero Academia – Final Season , One Punch Man Season 3 , SPY x FAMILY Season 3 , and continuations of To Your Eternity and Gachiakuta . Alongside big names, there are also many new series.

Tokyopop announces new licenses
Tokyopop announced three new licenses for Fall/Winter 2025 at the end of September. Of particular note is the title * In the Twilight of Our Adolescence* , scheduled for release on November 11th. This further expands the publisher's offerings in the romance and slice-of-life genres.
Sakamoto Days in the final arc
Sakamoto Days began its final story arc this past summer. In September, Manga2You confirmed that the series is expected to conclude in 2026. Fans are anticipating an action-packed finale.
Komi can't communicate Volume 30 as Limited Edition
The comedy hit Komi Can't Communicate celebrated its 30th volume. Tokyopop released a limited edition with bonus extras in September, which sold out within days.
